What is incense? How is it used?
High-quality incense like ours use essential oils, and therefore serve as a wonderful vessel for soothing aromatherapy. Incense sticks burn slowly and can be used for ritual, ceremony, daily cleansing, and adding ambience to the home.
Made from plants, not plastics.
Unlike most incense blends, ours contain only pure essential oils. We never use synthetic petroleum-based fragrances that fill your home with airborne phthalates and parabens. Those endocrine disruptors can damage our body's natural hormone levels, causing all sorts of short- and long-term issues. Yuck!
We believe in keeping our waterways clean, and that starts with cleaning the air we breathe. Crafted without any chemical preservatives or synthetic fragrances, our incense sticks are made with bamboo-derived activated charcoal that cleans the air as it burns by pulling impurities and germs out of the air.
I get headaches when I burn incense. Why should I try Sea Witch Botanicals' incense?
Unfortunately, incense has had a bad rap in North America. We typically see its use to cover up undesirable smells with classy scents like "Sex on the Beach." As synthetic fragrances became more prevalent (and cheaper to use), poor quality incense became the norm.
If you have headaches when burning incense, it's likely due to allergies to these damaging fragrances, or a real medical condition. If this is the case, consult your doctor before using incense.
Isn't all incense natural?
Contrary to popular belief, not all incense is created equal, or with natural ingredients. There are a number of plastics, resins, and synthetic fragrances that are found in typical stores. But don’t you worry: Our incense is hand-dipped in essential oils without any chemical preservatives or synthetic fragrances.
How can I tell if an incense is natural?
A natural incense should have deep, woodsy, soft lingering scent. Synthetic incense, on the other hand, is typically more vibrant and crisp, but leads to headaches. Only certain types of essential oils work for burning, so be wary of incense manufacturers that have an immense library of scent profiles.
Most importantly, ensure your incense has an ingredients list. Beware of "parfum" and "fragrance," which are typically petroleum-derived synthetic fragrances.
Is there a spiritual use for your incense?

Keep in mind incense is not the same as plug-ins or fragrance sprays that simply mask odors. Our incense is aromatic but not overwhelming, so don't expect it to cover up that neglected cat box, or week-old compost. You must do your part to keep a clean and pleasant home, and our incense will do its part to freshen things up.
